This cowl is knit in the round from 2 lovely soft yarns: Deluxe Superwash by Universal Yarns and Amitola Grande by Louisa Harding. The Deluxe yarn is knit on a smaller needle in garter st in the round (knit 1 round, purl 1 round). Then with the amitola yarn and larger needles the number of sts is doubled to produce ruching or a “gathering of material”. This marked increase is the amount of knitting emphasizes the striping of the amitola.

As detailed in the directions, this pattern is very amenable to adjusting the size, whether in circumference or height of the cowl.
