Multicolored Wool Doily
Crocheted doilies evoke images of life in the country when life was a little simpler and the pace a little slower. Make this tabletop doily to grace your kitchen, dining room and bedroom tables alike. A simple accent like this may be just what you need to spice up your home furnishings. The rustic style doily is worked in wool yarn rather than lightweight threads. This gives the doily a rugged, textured look. Use five colors of sportweight yarn and a size 1 steel crochet hook to make the circular doily with a scalloped edge. Crochet this pattern in rounds, using a variety of different crocheting stitches for a samplerlike effect.
Finished size is 23” across.
Materials: One 2-oz. skein of sport-weight yarn in each of the following colors: rust, blue, gray, maroon, and pink; size 1 steel crochet hook.
Note: To work doily pattern in thread, substitute American Thread Puritan mercerized crochet cotton (1 ball, white) and a size 7 steel crochet hook. Delete all color changes. Finished diameter of thread doily is approximately 15 inches.
