Pattern Description from Faith, Hope, Love, Knitting: “To extend the metaphor of life’s puzzle, the pieces don’t always fit together the way we think they will - or should. But when the pieces ‘snap’ into place, it becomes obvious that it’s the way it was meant to be. For this project I’ve designed a rather basic sock, but the method of construction is a bit unexpected. I started by knitting the leg portion horizontally, around the leg, instead of using the standard method. Simple puzzle pieces that still fit together to make a create, albeit untraditional sock.”

Finished Measurements:

• Circumference (leg): about 4 (8) inches
• Height (leg): about 2 (7) inches

Materials:

• Aurora yarns Steinbach Wolle Strapaz Norweger Ringel (80% wool, 20% polyamide; 164 yd/150m per 50g skein), one skein color #009 for baby, two skeins color #011 for adult
• Three yards sport weight cotton waste yarn
• Crochet hook size D-3 (3.25mm)
• One set of four US #1 (2.25mm) double-pointed needles
• Tapestry needle

Gauge: 28 sts and44 rows = 4 inch in Stockinette st

Notes: Leg is knit from side to side, beginning with a temporary cast-on. The last row is then joined to the cast-on using either kitchener stitch or 3-needle bind-off. The foot stitches are picked up and knit downward in the round from the leg section.
