This pattern produces a basic colourwork square that can be used for a number of different purposes i.e. bandana or scarf. Two could be sewn back to back as a cushion cover. Four or more could be sewn together to make a blanket or throw. More designs in this series are or will be available.

The pattern references supporting videos with “how to” tutorials available on Youtube and Patreon. These cover corrugated rib, carrying colours with short floats, steeking and finishing. There are also knitalong videos on youtube for this project.

I used Chiaogoo red lace interchangable needles with 5” x 3mm tips and an 8” cable. The gauge in the pattern produces a light, loose drapey fabric. Anyone concerned about the carrying yarn showing through from the back may wish to use thinner needles, e.g. 3mm but be aware that this might produce a slightly smaller finished object.

The yarn suggested is 2 x Wee County Yarns 100 gram 4ply miniball gradient packs. One pack for the background colours and one pack for the foreground colours. Each pack consists of 10 miniballs each weighing 10 grams. The colours should be knitted randomly with random colour changes every few rows.
There will be yarn left over at the end of the project. Wee County Yarns have produced two gradient packs especially for this project, they are called Rememberance Background and Remenberance foreground.

Alternatively any 4ply yarn can be used for the pattern, for example Jamieson’s of Shetland Spindrift. It could also be knitted in other yarn thicknesses as it doesn’t need to fit anything, so precise gauge is not essential.
