Murphy the Musk Ox
This pattern is on sale 30% off through August 31 (end of day, EST).
This musk ox was inspired by a skein of Shetland wool yarn from Why Knot Fibers. This amazing yarn is one of their Farm to Needle selections - all of the fiber is locally sourced, processed and milled. It has a lovely texture that is perfect for toys! You can find it here:
Murphy is knit in the round from the bottom up. The arms are knit first and then set aside to be attached later. Next each leg is knit and then joined together to work the body. The arms are then joined before knitting the shoulders, neck and head. Stitches for the muzzle are provisionally worked with waste yarn which is later removed. The live stitches are then picked up and worked in the round to form the muzzle. The ears and horns are knit separately and sewn on. The sample musk ox has safety eyes, but instructions are provided for embroidered eyes if you prefer.
