I crochet tightly so I used a 5mm, but since this item is stuffed, feel free to size down your hook if you find that stuffing would show through.

This pattern utilizes upholstery foam to give a sturdy underhang to the mushroom, which you can easily find at your local craft store. PS: check the clearance remnant section- you might be able to find some there for discount! You will only need about 12” square of 2” foam but can easily stack two 12” pieces of 1” foam.
