The pattern is only the chart. You can work the chart up in any stitch you want. The sample picture is done in hdc’s.

I also made a backing in complete white (30 hdc by 28 rows, same as pattern) and attached using sc st around the edge, to give it more insulation as a hot plate.

Design is two sided/reversible when all ends are woven in.
