About the Models: Jimmy Fallon is a branded mustang who was born in Nevada before being captured as a foal. Two months ago, we rescued him from a by-the-pound meat auction, where he was being sold or slaughter. He weights 1,050 pounds. ~ Aside from running one of the largest horse rescues in the southwestern United States, I am also an avid knitter and designer. My daughter Erna is the human model.

This shawl is worked sideways. Cast on 1 stitch and go from there… The size is adjustable.

The sample shawl was worked in two colors. I had purchased four 50 gr skeins of DK weight yarn, two of each colors. In the end, I could not remember what project the yarn had been intended for when I was stash diving.

I worked the shawl until I ran out of the first skein of Color 1, after that, I worked in stripes until I ran out of the second skein of Color 1 and the first skein of Color 2. Then I worked the second skein of Color 2 until I had almost run out of yarn. In total, I used 580 yards of yarn.

Shawl Size ~ 102” x 16”

Gauge ~ 16 sts & 40 rows = 4” in garter stitch unstretched

Yarns ~ this pattern uses approx. 580 yards of DK weight yarn – but you can use less or more, depending on desired shawl size:
