I am fascinated by the YouTube videos of people knitting big. And I mean BIG. Big fat needles and fat fat yarn. I won’t lie, it’s slightly awkward at first, but after a row you develop a rhythm and can breeze along. Plus with the huge gauge, even with the cables this knits up FAST. And BONUS, the cables are reversible, so no matter what way you throw this on your bed or couch the pretty side is always up!

Since I wanted this to be cream, and for practicality reasons needed to be washable, I chose Bernat Baby Blanket yarn. It’s a nice chenille, and since I held 3 strands together is still reasonably priced. (I bought my yarn and needles on sale, and the whole small size thing cost just over $60.) It’s a very thick blanket, and very warm as it is, but would be SUPER toasty if worked up in roving.

Small (almost a Full bed size) = 53” x 69” / 135 x 175 cm
Large (about a King bed size) = 80” x 85” / 203 x 216 cm
