My Cousin's Favorite Crocheted Hat
Materials: 200 yards Worsted/Aran Weight Yarn
Size M Crochet Hook
Gauge = 3 stitches per inch in sc
Instructions: Start at Crown: With size M Crochet Hook (or size to obtain gauge), ch 3 and join into a ring with 1 sl st in first ch.
Round 1: ch 1, 8 sc in ring.
Round 2: 2 sc in each sc around -- 16 sc -- mark end of round.
Round 3: 1 sc in next 2 sc, 2 sc in next sc; rep to end of round.
Round 4: 1 sc in next 3 sc, 2 sc in next sc; rep to end of round.
Round 5: 1 sc in next 4 sc, 2 sc in next sc; rep to end of round.
Round 6: 1 sc in next 5 sc, 2 sc in next sc; rep to end of round.
Round 7: 1 sc in next 6 sc, 2 sc in next sc; rep to end of round.
Round 8: 1 sc in next 7 sc, 2 sc in next sc; rep to end of round.
Round 9: 1 sc in next 8 sc, 2 sc in next sc; rep to end of round.
Round 10: 1 sc in next 9 sc, 2 sc in next sc; rep to end of round. 54 sc total.
Work even until hat measures 7 inches from center of crown.
Brim: At end of round, reverse and work 1 sc in each sc until brim measures 2.75 inches. (Simply turn the hat around and place the next sc in the sc you just finished. Then, continue to work around the hat as you have been doing. Reversing the direction of your work will create a fold for your brim.)
