My Crochet Kitchen: Macarons
** Currently in Testing **
Macarons are one of my all-time favourite treats, but I so rarely have the energy (or the kitchen space) to bake them!
These little crochet macarons, however, are ridiculously quick and easy to make. Once you’ve crocheted one, you’ll be itching to make more…
The macaron is worked in continuous rounds for this pattern. You’ll make 2 ‘shells’ / halves, then change colour on the 2nd shell and work the filling as part of it. The 2 halves are then seamed together (with just a little stuffing inside).
The pattern is suitable for advanced beginners as it’s a simple make, but with some stitches / techniques you may not have tried before. I’ve included links to some helpful videos if you’re new to anything, as well as photo guides throughout to take you through its construction method.
My macarons were made using Hobbii Yarn’s Rainbow Bamboo, in various shades. I generally prefer paler colours and pastel shades as these seem more natural to me, particularly having the lighter colour for the shell and the brighter colour for the filling.
But macarons come in all varieties so feel free to make them however you wish!
You can, of course, use any other light DK weight yarn for this pattern, but I highly recommend Rainbow Bamboo – it’s a lovely yarn that I prize for its softness, colour palette and sheen. You can grab some for yourself via this link.
You’ll need minimal amounts of each colour so this pattern works great as a stash buster.
When complete, your macarons should measure about 2” / 5cm in diameter, depending on your chosen yarn and how tightly you crochet.
