Yarn Plymouth Yarn Encore Worsted (75% acrylic, 25% wool; 200 yd 183 m/3½ oz 100 g): #6006 latte heather (MC), #1202 sand (CC1), #0597 pale peach (CC2), #0217 black (CC4), #0146 winter white (CC5), 1 ball each.

Plymouth Yarn Encore Worsted Tweed (75% acrylic, 22% wool, 3% rayon; 200 yd 183 m/3½ oz 100 g): #6389 ruby (CC3), 1 ball.

Hook Size E/4 (3.5 mm). Adjust hook size if necessary to obtain correct gauge.

Notions Stitch markers (m); fiberfill; 1⁄8” black buttons (with shank), 2; black thread and sewing needle; 1¼“ × 3” piece of craft foam, 2; quilter’s pins; ¼” small black snap, 1.

Gauge Head rnds 1–5 = 2” in diameter. Gauge is not important for this project.

NOTES

• Project uses nearly all of main color (MC). Consider purchasing an extra ball as insurance.

• Head is worked in the round from the back of the head to the tip of the nose. The body is worked in the round from the top down, leaving holes at sides for arms, then continuing down through the torso and later dividing for legs. Head, body, and limbs are worked in continuous rounds, without joining. Appliqué sections are worked separately and stitched to head and body. Stuff each piece as you go. Eyes are made with tiny black buttons, and eyelashes, nose, and mouth are embroidered using contrasting color 4 (CC4) yarn.

• Hat is worked from the top down in the round. Earflaps are made in turned rows. A separate lining for hat is made (to give hat extra structure), and the two layers are crocheted together around edges using CC4.

• Capelet is made in vertical, turned rows using differing stitch heights for shaping.

• Space decreases and increases evenly by placing them in a different location on each round.

• Place marker at beginning of each round and move up as work progresses.
