My two favorite shawl shapes are the crescent, and the asymmetrical triangle. I love variegated yarns and I love movement in my designs. My favorite knitting project has enough interest to keep me going, but at the same time, some repetition to be relaxing. I hope you love these things too.

Techniques: K2tog, Kfb, P2tog, Ssk, YO 2X. The YO 2X may be new to you, but it is fully explained.
Skill level: advanced beginner to intermediate.

Yarn – crescent shape
MC: WOOLBEARERS WOOLIE BEAR SOCK YARN (100% wool; 420yds; 3.5 oz); color – Arroyo Seco; 1 skein
CC: SEVEN SISTERS ARTS, Alcyone (70% superwash merino, 20% cashmere, 10% nylon; 400yds; 144g); color – red; 1 skein

Yarn – asymmetrical triangle shape
MC: Miss Babs Hot Shot (80% merino, 20% nylon; 400yds; 114g); color – Coffee Break; 1 skein
CC: Nooch Fiber Midtown Sock (75% merino, 25% nylon; 463yds; 100g); color – Those…Plants Howard Hodgkin; 1 skein

Substitute yarn: Any 2 skeins of fingering weight yarn can be used.
Approximate amounts needed:
Crescent shape - MC/325yds; CC/275yds.
Asymmetrical triangle shape - MC/375yds; CC/130yds.
It is a great way to use a highly variegated yarn.

Needles & Notions
32in or longer circular needle, US 6/4mm, or size needed to obtain gauge.

Gauge
Crescent shape: 23 sts & 48 rows = 4in/10cm in garter stitch
Asymmetrical triangle shape: 20 sts & 42 rows = 4in/10cm in garter stitch
Note: Fingering weight yarns can vary which is why I got different gauges for the two shawls. Correct gauge is not critical for this project, but your final measurements and yardage requirements may vary if your gauge is different. A looser gauge will use more yarn.

Pattern Notes
• Crescent shawl - Starting at the top with a few stitches, increases made at the beginning and end of every row creates the crescent shape.
• Asymmetrical triangle shawl – Starting at one end with a few stitches, increases and decreases are made every other row to create the shape. Both colors are worked along one edge in a unique way to eliminate floats created by carrying yarn or weaving in a lot of ends.
• Both shawls - Wide bands of garter stitch alternate with a narrow stripe in a contrast color, punctuated with peek a boo holes. They are both trimmed with a lacy border.

Crescent shawl: Unblocked - 60in wide, 13in deep. Blocked – 79in wide, 16in deep.
Asymmetrical triangle shawl: Unblocked – 47in wide, 15 deep. Blocked – 56in wide, 21in deep.
