The Kep is knitted in the round using a range of traditional fair isle peerie and border patterns.

A unisex Kep suitable for adults, teens.

There are 2 colourways on this PDF.

There are charts and written instructions, and pictures of both colourways.

Turn up the bottom to make a brim and fully lined for extra warmth.

Knitted in one piece starting from the lining and finishing at the Crown, then adding a tassel (optional)

Size - Adult, to fit head circumference 21” - 22” (53cm - 56cm) with 1” (2.5cm) negative ease.

Suggested Yarns

JC Rennie 4 ply Supersoft Lambswool (50g - 270 yds).
JC Rennie 4 ply Unique Shetland (50g - 236 yds).
Brooklyn Tweed Loft (Wool - 50g - 275 yds).
Drops Flora 4ply for the lining (65% Wool, 35% Alpaca).

Materials
9 Shades or less for the fair isle, a few grams of each shade.
1 shade for the lining.

Lining - 33grms used, 145 yards - 133 meters.

Gauge

Fair Isle 30sts = 4”(10cm) 32 rounds = 4”(10cm).
Lining 31sts = 4”(10cm) 36 rounds = 4”(10cm).
or needle size to obtain the gauge.

Needles - Notions

(same needle size throughout).
3mm (US 2.5) straight needles, a 16” (40.5cm) circular needle and 5 double pointed needles, tapestry needle, stitch markers.
Card to make a tassel 6.5” x 4” - 16.5cm x 10cm.
