My First Fair Isle Hat
What makes this a good first Fair Isle project?
Several things, starting from the beginning: 1) it uses a simple one-color ribbing, 2) the background color remains constant throughout, 3) the patterns are simple with easily memorable repeats within each row, 4) the number of colors
are reduced - shading occurs using only two instead of three or more colors, 5) the decreases are bordered by the background color to make it easier to see their location, and 6) the patterns in the crown use only one foreground color per pattern.
