I am sharing the adorable Valentine Cowl I knitted for my precious dog Willie. This is a basic cowl with hearts. I used stranded colorwork to add the hearts. I am sharing the pattern as I wrote it for Willie, who was a Golden Retriever with a 22” neck. If your dog is larger or smaller, you will need to go up or down in stitches by playing with the charted colorwork hearts included in the blog post. For really small dogs, I would go to a worsted weight yarn and start there.

It’s not an end all be all free pattern, but more or less the way I made this for Willie. It should fit dogs with necks from 19” to 24” without too much alterations. For a size larger, just go up in the needle size.

This is something that doesn’t use a whole lot of yarn, so if you have stuff left over from Christmas, this might be a way to use some of it.
