My Happy Place
This shawl was designed for a close friend and with Shetland Islands and lace legacy in mind. Although not traditional Shetland lace shawl, it incorporates Shetland lace motives and knitted with the luxurious Jamieson & Smith supreme 1 ply yarn.
Constructions
Shawl construction is unconventional. The center flower is knitted in the round, then a border tab is knitted on part of the the flower. Next the shawl is knitted flat. Stitches will bind off using crochet bind off.
Pattern is charted and suitable for both left-handed and right-handed knitters.
Yarn
The yarn used for this shawl is the Jamieson & Smith supreme 1 ply lace yarn. It is a cobweb weight yarn and does not stretch much during blocking. See instructions if you wish to enlarge the shawl.
By using a thicker yarn, you will achieve a bigger shawl. You may go up to fingering weight yarn and use 4-4.5mm (US6-7). take into account that yarn meterage/yardage will change and the shawl will be less translucent.
