The cable brim of this hat keeps your ears snuggly warm with its extra thickness. Whirls of stripes rise from the cable to the crown.

The hat is knit in two colors of worsted weight yarn. An adult-sized hat uses approximately 45 grams of each color, (about 100 yards each). Use a low-contrast pairing for a subtle whirl or punch up the volume with a high-contrast pair.

The brim begins with a provisional cast-on. Four stitches of reverse stockinette create the edging below the cable. Once the brim is grafted, stitches are picked up along the top of the cable (opposite the reverse stockinette band) for the top. The whirl is created with travelling stitches.
