These yarn keepers are especially handy for knitters who prefer to work while they walk. This one is especially appropriate if you need a handy gift for your Valentine! A few rows of seed stitch are worked above and below the ‘framed’ hearts.

It’s worked in a simple knit and purl pattern to keep that yarn cake (stretchy enough for those humongous commercial cakes - I actually used a 6” bubble vase for photos) from wandering all over the place, because as we all know, just because the yarn is in a center-pull cake, doesn’t mean it’s going to behave itself, and stay in one spot. The pattern looks complicated, but I promise you, it’s really not. Besides, who can resist some pretty hearts?

Materials needed include:

One (1) skein of worsted weight yarn with a fair amount of ‘bounce’
US 6 - 16 inch circular needle
US 7 - 16 inch circular needle and DPNs (or, 2 circular needles)
Satin cord or ribbon
Stitch markers
Tapestry needle

Knowledge of stitches required: Cast-on, Knit, Purl, K2T (knit 2 together), PM (Place Marker), 2x2Rib (K2,P2)
