My Little Blowfish
When life blows, make a blowfish!
My Little Blowfish is a pattern for knitting your very own blowfish1, for those days when no one will buy you a pony. Make them for the jugglers in your family, or as a toy for the toddler in search of that special something to chew. Add a little untraditional holiday cheer to the top of your douglas fir. Stuff them with garlic and hang them over your door to ward off vampires!
Pattern is worked from tail to head in the round in one piece with 2 ends! Skills needed are Judy’s magic cast on, knitted cast on, cast off, increases and decreases. Familiarity with short rows are helpful but optional, and short row wraps are not knitted. There are alternate directions for sewn on fins for which short rows are not needed.
Any weight of yarn works, but lighter than heavy fingering is a bit masochistic. Feltable wool yarn would be more fun. Samples in Cascade 220 are approximately 7 inches long and 3.5 inches in diameter before felting, shortening to about 5 inches long after felting. Blowfish are felted in a front loading washer. Sample fish have needle felted eyes, but sewn on eyes and safety eyes are also good options.
Pattern is 3 pages long with references. Pattern does not include instructions for sewn on eyes or needle felted eyes.
Check out My Little Slug for making a companion octopus!
