My Window Onto The Woods
This pattern is a very easy lap blanket or prayer shawl piece that is knit in one piece with a garter stitch edge and grid work separated by stockinette stitch blocks that offer the effect of a window and frame. If you want a longer or wider pieces you can simply add to the cast on in increments of 24 stitches per extra “window and frame” panel, or sections in length. I do suggest that for every 6 “window panes” you add, you increase your yarn needed by 200 yards.
The Gauge for this pattern was post washing and blocking, so I suggest that if you are questioning gauge and finished measurements, please wash and block your swatch. I didn’t not aggressive block the piece, but simply laid it out, and pinned loosely to assure straight lines on my edges and grid of frame work.
The yarn I used to knit this item is no longer available from Yarn hollow though I bought it recently. In fact; I can’t even find that Race Worsted existed ever, but I have the yarn band to prove it and I’ve referenced back to it many times to assure I have all the needed information for searching. It was a lovely yarn to work with. Any worsted weight yarn should work, but be aware that different fiber contents behave differently under similar usages and conditions. The fiber I used was 100% Superwash Merino.
Hope you enjoy.
