Mysa Hot Water Bottle Cover
The Swedish word Mysa is a verb that translates to “to cozy up” or “to snuggle”. It’s a popular term in Sweden that refers to a feeling of comfort and contentment that comes from relaxing and enjoying a cozy atmosphere.
This pattern was designed in collaboration with Wool Warehouse to celebrate the release of their Yarnsmiths Merino DK 50g/110m range released in November 2024.
Construction:
Knitted bottom up, working in the round, starting with Judy’s magic cast on, then using stockinette stitch which is increased using the m1l/r technique. The main body of the hot water bottle cover is made using either 2 or 3 colour stranded colourwork. Decreases are then knitted in stockinette stitch using the ssk/k2tog technique. The neck is worked in 2x2 rib, like a collar, and finished using a 2x2 Italian bind-off.
Sizes:

Measurements:
Width: Approx. – 20cm / 8”
Length: Approx. – 35cm / 14” – including neck/cuff

Yarn usage information:
To make the 2-colour version of the Mysa Hot Water Bottle Cover you will require 2 balls of MC and 1 ball of CC (3 balls / 150g) of Yarnsmiths Merino DK. A high contrast in yarn colours is recommended, though low contrast would look equally beautiful. Yarn quantities given are to make one hot water bottle cover, but with one extra 50g ball of your MC or CC you would have plenty of yarn to make a second one, either matching or in the reverse colourway. Therefore, to make two of the 2-coloured Mysa Hot Water Bottle Cover you will require 4 balls / 200g of Yarnsmiths Merino DK – 3 MC and 1 CC for matching, or 2 MC and 2 CC for reverse colourway.
The 2-colour samples are made using Off-White (3045) and Christmas Green (3210) with the MC and CC being switched for each sample.
To make the 3-colour version of the Mysa Hot Water Bottle Cover you will require 2 balls of MC and 1 ball of each CC (4 balls/ 200g) of Yarnsmiths Merino DK. A high contrast between all three yarn colours is recommended. Again, yarn quantities give are to make one hot water bottle cover, but with one extra ball of your MC you would have plenty of yarn to make a second one, either matching or with reversed contrast colours. Therefore, to make two of the 3-coloured Mysa Hot Water Bottle Cover you will require 5 balls / 250g (3 balls of MC and 1 ball of each CC) of Yarnsmiths Merino DK.
The 3-colour sample is made using Off-White (3045) for the MC with Fjord Blue (3252) and Sunshine Yellow (3150) as the CC’s.
