amirisu Mystery KAL 2021: The Swallowtail Chase

amirisu is holding our first ever Mystery KAL!

In a Mystery Knit Along (known a Mystery KAL or MKAL), participants knit a shawl section by section without knowing what the finished design will be. A new section of the pattern (a “clue”) is revealed each week. Completing each clue brings participants one step closer to finishing the shawl and revealing the complete design.

There are many ways a Mystery KAL can be held and different themes they can have. For our first MKAL, we decided to design a shawl based on an original concept story: The Swallowtail Chase.

Each clue includes a short installment of the story and a design element inspired by the story.

Will we be able to catch the swallowtail butterfly?

The pattern will be provided in 5 weekly installments following the schedule below.

Pattern Distribution
Before the KAL begins, all participants will be sent a link to a Dropbox folder that will contain the weekly clues.
Starting from Friday, September 24, every week at 15:00 a new clue will be added to the Dropbox folder.

• Please note that the pattern will be provided electronically as a PDF. We will not send out printed patterns.

Schedule:
The first clue will be provided on Sept. 24 (Fri.) at 15:00 (JST).
Clues will be provided over 5 weeks: Sept. 24, Oct. 1, Oct. 8, Oct. 15, Oct. 22
Participants will receive an email notifying them each time a new clue is available.

About the Pattern
Participants may choose to download the English version or the Japanese version of the clues. Video tutorials will be provided for key techniques.

About the Yarn
You will need at least four colors of fingering weight yarn. The approximate required amounts are as follows:

Color A: 220 yds/ 200m
Color B: 330 yds/ 300m
Color C: 135 yds/ 120m
Color D: 230 yds/ 210m

Online Events for Participants
We will also hold a virtual Cast On Party on Sept. 24 (Fri.) at 19:00 (JST) on Instagram.
Mystery KALs are new to many knitters in Japan, so we are planning to hold regular meetups in Japanese via Instagram Live. We will announce the schedule for these events with each clue.

Sharing KAL Progress on Instagram
We welcome participants to use Instagram to communicate with each other and share their progress!

To maintain the mystery and avoid spoilers for other participants, we ask that you use the MKAL image provided in the Dropbox folder as a cover image for progress photos. To do this, just upload the official MKAL image as the first photo in your post.

アゲハ蝶を追いかけて
amirisu初、ミステリーショールKalを開催します！
ミステリーKalとは毎週少しずつパターンが発表され、最後まで編むとショールが完成するというもの。それを糸選びも含め、編んでいるみなさんでワイワイお祭りのように楽しもうという企画です。どんな形なのかは最後までミステリーなんですよ。
色々な形のミステリーKalがあると思うのですが、amirisuでは「アゲハ蝶を一緒に追いかける」という物語仕かけでショールを作りました。
毎回、お話を読みながらそのイメージでショールの模様が展開していきます。
さて、無事にアゲハ蝶が捕まえられるのか。ゴールを目指して一緒に楽しく編みましょう！

パターンの配布方法
Dropboxのリンクをお知らせしますので、そちらに毎週金曜日の午後15時に新しいパターンが入ります。印刷物の配布ではなく、全てPDFデータとなりますので、その点ご注意下さい。

スタート
9月24日(金), 午後15時に1回目のパターン配布となります。
9/24, 10/1, 8, 15, 22 の全5回の配布です。
毎回、配布する度にメールでお知らせ致します。
キーとなる編み方については動画もご用意します。

使用する糸について
Fingeringの糸を最低4色使用します。
おおよそ必要になる糸長
A：約200m
B：約300m
C：約120m
D：約210m

使用する針
・US4 (3.5mm) の輪針
または ゲージが取れる太さの針

その他の道具
・とじ針
・ステッチマーカー（オプション）

主な技法
掛け目、2目一度、増目, すべり目、拾い目
文章パターン＋チャートで構成しています。

参加特典
せっかく日本語でのミステリーショールKalですので、Instagramライブでトクコが直接質問をお受けします。ライブの日にちについてはパターン配布のメールにてお知らせします。1回のパターンにつき、平日の夜・土曜日・平日の朝など、働いている方や子育て中の方でも参加できるよう回数多めでやります！
また24日金曜日の夜19時からCast OnパーティーをInstagramライブで開催します。

Instagramでの投稿について
Instagramで編んでいる途中経過や使用糸をぜひ載せてください。その際、ミステリーということで秘密を楽しんでいる方のために、1枚目の写真はDropboxに入れている共通写真を必ず入れ、2枚目にご自分の写真を乗せるという方法でお願いします。
