Have you ever wanted a simple cabled sweater but not the work?
I love cables but carrying around the hooks and trying to manipulate all the stuff whilst on the train is a bit tricky. So I decided to try to create a cable looking sweater by lace.
Dainty sweet lace cables add the look I was headed for but not the stuff that goes with them. The soft lofty yarn adds a sweet appeal. The sweater can be used for dress up or dress down which adds to my desire to create it. I love items that can be worn throughout the year and for all types of occasions.
The super great thing about lace is that it stretches, so there is no shaping needed. The sweater gently forms to your body and will accentuate your curves. You can add buttons all the way down or just on the top. The lace creates the buttonholes so no additional worries.
The sweater consists of two lace cables, the braided lace and the daisy stitch cable separated with purl stitches.
The braided cable includes a pass over stitch that is worked as follows – slip 1 with yarn in back, k1, yo and then pass the slipped stitch over both the knitted stitch and the yarn over.
The Daisy Cable is worked every 3 rows twice and then every other row twice in order to create the gentle hourglass look.
The cables are arranged the same for each size, braided cable and then daisy cable ending with the braided cable. There is about a 2 inch ease in the sweater as the cables will bring it in a bit and will also allow it to stretch. Choose the size closest to your size and go down one if you would like a closer fit.
