Great use for Advent Minis

Shawl Construction - This is a crescent-shaped, elongated shawl with a long sweeping fringe. The shawl starts with a unique, stretchy YO (yarnover) Garter Tab Cast On and increases within the various design elements. As we begin our knitting adventure, we will knit a series of garter stitches and lace patterns incorporating all of the fun ocean themed mini skeins. Let your spirit move you in your color placement for the Seaweed Lace Pattern. The “pièce de résistance” of the shawl is the fringe, reminiscent of the flowing hair of the Mermaid. The Mythical Mermaid Shawl is perfect to wrap around your shoulders in the evening, when you are visiting the seaside. Perhaps on your outing, you will be lucky to find an ocean treasure or spot a mermaid.

Yarn - Mermaid’s Purl 2024 Advent 13 - 20g Sea Sock Mini - 80 yards (73 meters) fingering weight yarn 80% Superwash Merino and 20% Nylon. Mermaid’s Purl Cashmere Sea Sock - 100g - 80% Superwash Merino - 400 yards (366 meters ) 10% Cashmere and 10% Nylon. Advent Mini Skein Colorways referred to as Main Color (MC) for pattern from top to bottom used for sample - Tropical Curl, Treasured Seaglass, Blue Bubber Jelly, Seal Smiles, Marianas Trench, Crimson Sea Star, Playa Rosa, Orchid Octopus, Cherry Shrimp, Sorbet Salmon. Contrast Color (CC) - Mermaid’s Purl Cashmere Sock in Pearl. Amounts used for sample including the fringe - all of the minis - 975 yds (892 meters) and Mermaid’s Purl Cashmere Sock 350 yards (320 meters).

Needles - US 4 (3.75 mm) circular needle and US 10 (6.0 mm) - (for the bind off). Various circular needle cord lengths can be used - recommended at the beginning 22 in (56 cm) - progressing to a 40 in (102 cm).
