N for November Sweater
N for November is a tribute to the striking color blocks of naval signaling flags used to send coded messages across a choppy sea. In a very abstract way, it is also reminiscent of the traditional Scottish Argyle sweater.
German Short Rows are used to create triangular blocks of color and shoulder shaping, so only one color is used at a time. The body is knitted in one flat piece starting at the front hem, to the neck, and then down to the longer back hem. Sleeve stitches are picked up from the dropped shoulder once the side seams have been joined, and rolled Stockinette Stitch neck trim is added to the neckline.
Once the body is finished, you may try on the garment to assess whether you would like longer or shorter sleeves; directions for both are included. The sample is shown with shorter sleeves.
Sample is 46.5” (shorter sleeved); model is 34” bust
