Naive Flowers Wall Hanging

The inspiration for the designs in this cute wall hanging came from ancient tapestries. Naïve refers to a less sophisticated style so the flowers are not trying to be realistic.
This pattern is suitable for mosaic beginners as long as you know crochet basics and can research YouTube if needed. If you have not done mosaic overlay crochet before, the pattern includes general instructions on this method, however, there are a number of videos on YouTube demonstrating mosaic crochet.
The pattern contains written instructions as well as charts marked with Xs. There are additional charts for the 3 flowers without the vines that can be used for other projects like blankets, bags, table runners or scarves etc. Two of the patterns have stitch repeats of 24 which are common to a lot of other patterns, so you can mix and match if you wish.
When choosing yarn, it is important to choose contrasting colours so the design stands out.
The yardage given is for DK yarn. For the green version, I used Stylecraft DK for the flowers and vine and Scheepjes River Washed for the background.
The wall hanging measures 37 x 51cm (14 ½ x 20”). Any yarn can be used. Of course, the size will vary depending on yarn used, your tension and hook size. You will need approx. 80cm (31”) of 4mm dowel for hanging or a bit more if you use thicker yarn.
Pattern is available in both UK and US terminology.
This pattern refers to Bebablanket’s Double Border, Easy Start, 3 magic steps which can be viewed here: https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/double-border-ea...
