Nami Square Hood
The Nami Square Hood was inspired by a sweet and special friend. She taught me to knit but what made her special is that she taught me to love unconditionally. Her grandchildren called her “Nami” and this design is created in memory of her.
This hooded cowl allows you to wear this with a sweatshirt, giving the illusion of a hooded sweatshirt or with your favorite jean jacket.
This is a great pattern for beginners that have learned to chain, double crochet and make granny squares. The hood is created by making large Nami Squares and attaching them using an invisible seam. You can use the large Nami Square to check your guage which should be 4.5” once blocked. The cowl portion begins at the base of the hood using double crochet stitches with some increases. It also incorporates a row of small Nami Squares. The final touches include the slanted shell edging that gives it some elegance.
Any DK weight yarn should work. I used Gnome River Yarns - Clever Gnome. It is a Superwash Merino and Nylon Blend. I used 3 different colors of 100g skeins.
I hope you enjoy this pattern and remember those special people in our lives that make such a huge positive impact.
