Namya means “worthy of honour”….
And this is how I felt like when making something out of this incredible soft and beautiful alpaca-wool, it is really worthy of honour - as all the fibers we work with. Often we do not think about our yarn or materials in that way, but it all comes from somewhere - and often with a fascinating and beautiful story behind it….

The design & construction

Namya is worked top-down and seamlessly. It features a neat and feminine fit that is enhanced by the frilled edge and cuffs. The simplicity of the cardigan paired with the feminine details makes this cardigan an elgant wardrobe staple that you will cherish for years:). As the cardigan is knit top-down you could easily customize by adding length to body and the frilled edge, or subtracting the frill for a ribbed hem or likewise.

Materials
Yarn I used the lovely fingering weight, alpaca wool from Filcolana “Indiecita. This yarn comes in balls of 50gr/1.75oz and 160m/175yards. You will need approximately 5/6/6/6/7/7/7/8/8 balls of this yarn to work the cardigan. Count for more wool if adding length.
Needles** You need to choose needle size to obtain gauge. I used needle size 2.5mm/US1.5, this is a suggestion only. You will need straight or circular needles for the upper body, a long, circular needle for the lower body, dpns (or a long, circular needle if working the magic loop) for the sleeves. You will also need a crochet hook, 2.5mm for the provisional cast-on.
Notions Waste yarn in fingering weight for the provisional cast-on. Buttons 1cm/0.4” across. Tapestry needle. Blocking tools.

The pattern. The pattern is comprehensible and easy to follow. All measurements are in cm’s as well as in inches. There is a schmatic. The simple rib-pattern is only written.

Skills needes Techniques used are provisional cast-on (explained), picking up of sts, simple short-rows (explained), increases and decreases. The knit would suit an adventurous beginner as well as an advanced knitter looking for a relaxed knit:)
