Nancy the Nuthatch
Say hello to Nancy the Nuthatch! She’s a very sweet and colourful girl, who likes nothing better than an acrobatic sprint up a tree!
Nancy is 20cm long – just the right size to cuddle in your hand. Your PDF nuthatch knitting pattern includes suggestions for Stylecraft Special DK yarns that you can use to make Nancy, or you can use any oddments of DK yarn in your stash to make her. You’ll need a pair of 4mm knitting needles, toy stuffing, and a couple of black beads with thread for eyes.
Is Nancy easy to knit?
Yes she is! Nancy is knitted flat on a pair of 4mm (UK 8/ US 6) knitting needles, making her a great project for a beginner who knows the basics of knitting: no need to knit in the round.
Basic skills that you need to know: casting on, casting off, stocking stitch, increasing by knitting into the front and back of a stitch (inc 1), decreasing by knitting 2 stitches together (k2tog), changing colour midway through a row. The knitting pattern includes detailed making up instructions and colour photos to help you on your way.
