This shawl was designed for my friend’s miracle baby - I was coereced into publishing it.

It is knit in the Shetland tradition - except I used circular needles to knit inner border in the round instead of straights to knit one side at a time. It is knit from outside inward and is seamless. Outer border is grafted at start and end; stitches are picked up all around to do inner border; centre is knit straight - joining sides and grafting last side to final side of inner border.

Outer border is from Susan Lewis’ “Knitting Lace”; inner border ‘Wings of the Swan’ and centre ‘Rose Trellis’ are from Sarah Don’s ‘The Art of Shetland Lace”.
