I wanted a simple, quick bootie pattern that would fit my son now that he’s older, since it seems most patterns are for newborns. This is pretty similar to Bev Q’s Very Easy Booties, but without the need to sew it up afterward, so it’s a bit easier.

I’ve included pithy directions for those of you who want to make your own with any hook/yarn combo and at any gauge, and also a more detailed pattern with many photographs. If you’re using the pity directions, I really suggest not going too small with the hook/yarn so you’re not crocheting forever (especially if you choose to use single crochet).

If you want to make booties for a younger or older baby, just make sure your beginning chain is roughly as long as the wee one’s foot. (For reference, most newborn booties are about 3.5” long.)
