Narwhal Mittens
Show off your admiration for the unicorn of the sea on a pair of hand-knit mittens! Combine your love of knitting with your infatuation of strange mammals that really exist and make us wonder if the discovery of a real-life unicorn is next.
You’ll need to know how to:
Knit, purl, work in the round, increase/decrease, stranded color work over long repeats
Materials Needed:
Main Color Fingering Weight Yarn, approx. 150 yards
Contrasting Color Fingering Weight Yarn, approx. 150 yards
Size 0 DPNs, or size needed to obtain gauge
Notions: 2-3 stitch markers, waste yarn/stitch holders for thumb, scissors, tapestry needle
Gauge:
The gauge listed is the gauge you will need to obtain in your finished piece, stranded and knit in the round
Finished Measurements, laid flat:
Across: 4.25”
Body Length: 8.5”
Cuff Length: 1.4”
To go up in size, you can play with adjusting your yarn weight and needle size.
Layout:
This pattern has written directions on assembly, but the color work portion and increases/decreases are shown through charts.
Two PDF versions will be available with the pattern, the PRINTED version will have the charts laid out vertically (on their sides) to maximize the size, and the DEVICE version will have the chart laid out horizontally in so that you can read it on your device.
Note: I am working on the sizing/gauge for man-hands, if you would like me to email you when that comes available please shoot me a PM.
