Native American-Inspired Afghan
Native American-Inspired Afghan and Cocoon, #813.
Traditional Native American-Inspired themes are created using just single and double crochet stitches. One of the things I like about this design is that you do not change colors in the middle of the row--all changes are made at beginning of row (i.e. you will alternate row colors, one row turquoise, then one row dark turquoise, then one row coral, etc)--easy peasy! Included are instructions to make an afghan in two sizes -- adult size made using worsted-weight yarn and the baby size made using baby-weight yarn. Also included are instructions to make a baby cocoon swaddler from baby yarn (fits newborn to 3 mos). See my website for a video how-to on how to make the dropped dc stitch which forms the design…similar in technique to classic vintage Navajo afghans.
