This is an overlay mosaic crochet pattern for a beach bag or the pattern could be used to make a nautical themed blanket. The dimensions of the bag are 45cm x 45cm, so it is a good big size to fit your towel, sun cream, books etc in for a visit to the beach or a summer outing.

It is made from cotton with a fabric lining so it is strong and durable and leather handles have been added but these are optional, you could crochet handles or straps instead.

The technique of tapestry mosaic has been used to have 3 colours in the design but this could be adapted if you wanted to only have two colours.

There are a number of suggestions given for the back of the bag.

For this design I used Sirdar Snuggly DK 100% cotton and used 4 x 50g of cream, 2 x 50 g of navy and 1, 50g of red.
