Navigator Mosaic Afghan
Navigator is a special nod to my career and what I do outside of crochet.
For the past 18 years, I have worked in the GIS sector – (Geographic Information Systems). My working life has been about online mapping, GPS (global mapping systems), and, more recently, geolocation-based augmented reality. It’s all a bit geeky, but that’s what I do lol.
I decided it was about time I designed something that was inspired by my day job. I knew I wanted to create a compass of some kind, as without the compass, my job wouldn’t exist. After a few days of drawing, Navigator was born.
This pattern has all the charts and written instructions you need to complete the blanket.
Three PDFs are available - one using US terms, one using UK terms and a separate full chart PDF that is compatible with Knit Companion if that’s how you prefer to work. Otherwise, you can use the charts in the main PDF, either by printing them out and taping them together or viewing them on your mobile/tablet/laptop.
The main PDF has 20 easy-to-read charts (with Xs for DCs) and corresponding written instructions.
You can use any yarn and corresponding hook you like for this pattern; remember, high-contrast colours are better for mosaic crochet.
This design looks great either in two colours, or you could go for it and go for a full mosaic tapestry with many colours. The choice is yours.
Please note that this pattern does not give instructions or yarn stats for mosaic tapestry crochet.
I used Stylecraft Highland Heathers DK in Grist and Moss for my example.
