Worked from one corner outwards with two alternating stitch pattern Sections, this piece was designed with versatility in mind. The modified linen stitch style creates a beautiful, sometimes pixelated fabric with a wonderful drape and an almost woven look that is easy to work, even for beginners, because the majority of the stitches are worked into chain spaces.

This piece was originally designed especially for the Into the Wool Fiber Retreat 2020 using a Bluefaced Leicester base by Dana of Unwind Yarn Company, which blocks beautifully to really highlight the curves and stitches of this shawl.

Pattern includes a photo tutorial for the first seven rows, a link to an informal video tutorial to further demonstrate getting started as well as a jump ahead to the Section B stitches, plus a color coded chart and guidelines for making modifications.

STITCHES & TECHNIQUES:

  • Single crochet
  • Half double crochet
  • Double crochet
  • Treble crochet
  • Crossed double crochet stitches

GAUGE:

Before blocking: Rows 1–23 should measure approximately 4” (10 cm) vertically by 5.25” (13 cm) horizontally by 6” (15 cm) along the long edge.

Finished sample measured (tip to tip) approximately 38” (96.5 cm) wide by 25” (63.5 cm) deep after aggressive wet blocking. Please note that sample used 155 g from a generous skein, please see page 5 in pattern for more info.
