Neat Mitered Squares by Susanna Locati

Neat Mitered Squares

This pattern is available as a free Ravelry download

This is my own version of the very well known mitered squares. When I decided to make a mitered squares blanket to use up my leftovers of yarn, I made a research and find out dozens of patterns. Many of them were excellent, but no one was perfect for my taste, so I ended up writing my own. Of course many of its features can be found in other patterns too, but not combined – as far as I know at least. I hope you’ll like it!

Needles
You can use circulars, double-pointed or straight needles, as you prefer. Anyway, since the blanket is knitted in one piece, it becomes less and less comfortable to knit with straight needles as the piece grows.
My personal favourites are 60 cm (24 in) circulars.
Size depends from the yarn you’re using.

Yarn
Any yarn will do, as this patterns is basically a stashbuster. You’ll only need a few grams of yarn for every square.

Construction
The blanket is built in one piece. After knitting the first square, you’ll need to pick up some stitches along its selvedge, and it will become the “cast on” for the next one.
