Nebel
Nebel is a textured ear warmer made in the round, using worsted weight yarn, although the pattern can be adapted to use Aran or bulky weight yarn.
Nebel Nebel is the German word for fog. I live in Ingolstadt, which is located along the Danube River valley. Due to the valley and the weather here, it is often foggy in the morning. This ear warmer is perfect for keeping my ears warm on those foggy days where it is too warm for a hat, but too cold to for my unprotected ears.
Difficulty
Adventurous beginner to intermediate
Tools and Materials
- 5.00 mm (H/8) crochet hook
- tapestry needle and scissors
- 0.5 skein worsted weight or Aran yarn (sample shown used 0.5 skein of Malabrigo Rios in Fog)
Sizes
Small, (Medium, Large), 50 (52, 54) cm, 19.5 (20.5, 21) in circumference, to fit heads approximately sized 51 (53.5, 56) cm, 20, (21, 22) in. Size can be adjusted by increasing or decreasing the number of foundation stitches. Sample shown is size L.
Nebel can also be adjusted to other weight yarns by changing the number of foundation stitches. Testers made the pattern in DK weight yarn and changed the number of foundation stitches.
