Neckarstrand is the pattern to create a shawl/stole with a fine yarn. It has neither front- nor backside: the first half of the row is knitted, the second half purled (on the other side you see just the same) and the shape of it is a result of its construction.

Additionally, there is a lace-section: leaves that climb its sides. The leaves are charted.

The width of it can easily be adjusted. And you can use any yarn you like - if it is a solid colour or a gradient with a slow change of colours, then the leaves will be better to be seen.

I already created a sister for it in bulky yarn: Nordseewellen.

The name of the pattern would translate in english: banks of the river neckar. It is a river not so far from where I live, and it goes in curves, half circles - although a lot of change has been done to make transport of big goods with ships possible. There are many old towns by its sides - where there are none, there are forests and wineyards. In autumn the banks are turning yellow, orange and red.
