Neil’s Slouchy Hat
I designed this hat with my husband, Neil. He wanted a hat that could be pulled down and cover more of his ears and neck or worn further back for an extra slouchy look. And so Neil’s Slouchy Hat was made! It is made from a 50% cotton and 50% acrylic yarn so it is soft and breathable, and washes nicely.

Neil’s Slouchy Hat fits heads 58-62cm or 22-24.5 inches in circumference. It is 23cm or 9 inches tall, 28cm or 11 inches wide.
Materials Needed: 100g or 3.5oz (1 ball) Kartopu Cotton Spray yarn in colour CS-007, 5.5mm or 9US or 5UK single pointed knitting needles. I used circular knitting needles (80cm or 32 inches long) only because of the number of stitches that are required for the hat. The hat is not knitted in the round. It is knitted flat and then seamed.
Methods Used: Cast on using the thumb method, Knit or garter stitch, Purl stitch, Stocking stitch - 1 knit row, then 1 purl row, K2tog - Knit 2 stitches together as 1 (decreases by 1 stitch), P2tog - Purl 2 stitches together as 1 (decreases by 1 stitch), Cast off - Cast off by knitting or purling two stitches then slipping the bottom stitch over the top one.
