A Estonian-based lace shawlette, one that is sure to draw an eye from everyone. I originally designed it for my sister-in-law Angie; I thought that the motif of waterlilies would suit her perfectly.
The patten is based off of a modified pattern from http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/5-double-waterlily-1-motif-for-shawls while the border panels were inspired from Barbara Walker’s Third Book of Knitting Patterns.
Size: With lace/fingering yarn - approx. 2 by 3 ft. (.6m by .9m)
Yarn: Any lace/fingering yarn - approx. 450 yds (411m) per 50g skein
No gauge is needed, since the shawl can be sized bigger with heavier-weight yarn. Just reduce the number of repeats of the main panel from two to one, and you’ll be all set.
One last thing: The pattern mentions that you can increase the length of the shawlette up to six feet (approx. 1.8m). For that, you need two skeins of the yarn called for. Read the pattern files for more information.
