This original triangular shawl pattern is knit in a stripe pattern that will enhance pretty much any type of hand dyed yarn. It is interesting enough to keep most people happy but is not too complicated nor does it incorporate a lot of intricate stitches. It knits up fairly quickly so satisfaction is not delayed.

This fun shawl pattern was written for my Neon NIghts shawl striping yarn (see https://www.etsy.com/listing/252722324/neon-nights-shawl-...) but works as well for any other kind of hand painted or semi solid yarn too. In a solid color, it will have a more tailored look and in a varigated yarn, will showcase your lovely hand-painted yarns very well.

This pattern is appropriate for a beginning knitter as it is mostly just knit and purl. It has a 20 row repeat and you can essentially make the shawl as large as you want by continuing to follow the pattern until you want to stop. Gauge is not so important except for planning on how much yarn to use. It will look good with pretty much any type of yarn and colorway. Use a needle appropriate to the weight of yarn used and just keep in mind that it will affect the number of repeats you will want to use and how much yardage is needed.

I have included both a chart that covers most of the shawl as knit, and written instructions in case you prefer following words rather than a chart. I have marked on the chart both the simple stitch repeat (outlined in green) and the repeat including the increases on the edge (outlined in blue) Just repeat as needed to make the shawl your ideal size. The chart is marked every 10 stitches so you don’t have to try to count a large number of stitches with no landmarks.

Finished size of a fingering weight shawl made with one skein of 100g sock/fingering yarn is about 60” wide, from tip to tip and 22” deep at the longest point of the triangle.
