Neptune's Net
I imagined all the little things that might get caught up in Neptune’s net: shells, seaweed, bits of coral, driftwood, little crabs and small fish. Make this your own and add your personal flotsam and jetsam!
This shawlette is worked from the bottom up, beginning with an easy
lace pattern. The first few rows are embellished with shell discs
of different size and colour. The rest of the body is worked in garter
stitch, shaped to a crescent with short rows and finished with picot
bind off.
Skills / Techniques
Beading with a crochet hook
Short rows
Picot bind off.
Other Supplies
Approx. 250 shell discs, mixture of colours and sizes (10, 15, 20mm);
0.75mm / US sz 14 crochet hook or size to fit the shell discs;
Yarn needle
Notes:
The discs add weight to the shawl, so be mindful of this. A more tightly spun yarn or a yarn with some silk content for example will be able to hold more discs than a merino single.
