Nerites was a sea faring god. It is said that following a dispute with the god Helios (whom Nerites had dared challenge to a chariot race) he was transformed into a shell-fish.

This is a scarf that honors the divinity in the human, the gods and demi-gods. Nerites was a minor Sea-God, and is part of my series dedicated to humanity, mysticism and the Ancient Greek Mythology. This scarf while it is a lace piece, it possesses some interesting textured stitches. I aim to capture the riding of the waves and the dancing of the dolphins and Tritones, while these two beings ride their chariot across the 7 Seas. I hope you enjoy the journey into this Ocean lace world.

Materials:
Yarn and Needle options:
The suggested yarns may be substituted with any lace weight or fingering weight yarn.

1) Fingering weight US 9, 5.5 mm, Gauge = 10 Rows and 7 sts = 2 “ in stockinette

2) Wollemeise Lace Garn US 8, 5.0 mm, Gauge = 13 Rows and 9 sts = 2 “ in stockinette

Stitch markers (recommended)

Blocking (stainless) wires, boards and pins.

Main Picture is on Wollemeise Lace Garn. Blocked to 64 inches by 14 inches. At 48 repetitions of main pattern. I used 64 grams that accounts for about 374.1 yards (342.1 meters).

Pattern Notes:
There are 39 stitches, but there are some (Right Side) odd numbered Rows (Row 3 & Row 7)that go up in number of stitches when you perform the kfb. On the Wrong side as you return and do the appropriate decreases on the even numbered Rows (Row 4 & Row 8), you will then have 39 stitches.
