Nerodia is a long isosceles triangle. It begins with just a few stitches and can be knit as wide as you like, for as long as you like, with as much or as little ribbing on the end as you like. The sample was knit with two sets of the Nerodia erythrogaster gradient color way in Audubon Sport from The Fiberists.

While the sample uses four colors, this scarf could easily be knit with just one color or as many as you would like. It could also be knit with any weight of yarn from sock to aran. Note that a heavier weight yarn would likely yield a finished project closer in size to a shawl rather than a scarf.

Materials
Yarn - Nerodia erythrogaster gradient color way in Audubon Sport from The Fiberists, 335 yds (352 m), 2 sets were used for the sample for a total of 770 yds (704 m)
Needles - US size 4 or size needed to obtain gauge below. 32” circular recommended. If you are using a yarn different from the sample, use a needle that gives you a fabric you like.
Gauge - 28 sts x 22 rows over 4” in cable pattern, blocked. Gauge is not overly important for this pattern as long as you are happy with the fabric. If you would like to try a swatch just cast on and begin Chart A to see if you like the fabric. Adjust needles as needed.
Finished size - 60” long, 20” across the top
Miscellaneous- 2 stitch markers for written directions, darning needle to weave in ends, cable needle (opt.)
