Inspired by a vintage ski-sweater, this simple colourwork sweater has been updated with modern rolled-edge finishings and a flattering blouse-type shape, with visible tapered waist and sleeve shaping. The sweater is worked from the top down, starting flat with the back neck and shoulders, then knitting the back yoke panel, afterwards you will pick up the shoulder stitches and knit the front yoke panel, whilst shaping the neckline using short rows. The body is then worked in the round, making gradual waist decreases to achieve a tapered shape, cropped to just below the waistline. Stitches are picked up from the shoulder edge and the sleeves are knitted in the round, again with gradual visible decreases along the top ‘seam’, gathered into loose bracelet-length cuffs. Knits up quickly using Aran-weight yarn in 2 or 3 colours. The beautiful hand-dyed “Ideal” 100% Polworth wool by Manos Del Uruguay gives it an extra modern touch.

SIZES
XS (S, M, L, XL, 2XL, 3XL, 4XL) - see third photo for dimensions.

Note on fit: This sweater is designed to have at least 20 cm of positive ease around the bust, tapering gently as you get to the waist to give a flattering line, without being ‘clingy’. Keep the sweater cropped for the best results-you won’t regret it! The sleeves are also quite short (bracelet length), to balance out the relatively large width of the sleeves.

TECHNIQUES
Wrap and Turn (W&T) = Used for avoiding a hole when making Short Rows. Wrap your yarn around the next stitch, so that the yarn is ‘held’ in place, turn your work and finish the row as instructed. When you come back to the wrapped stitch, you will be instructed to knit 3 stitches past it (the wrapped stitch counts as one of the 3), as you do, pick up the wrapped stitch with the stitch it is wrapped around and knit the two together, in order to disguise the wrap.

Fair Isle = Since the yoke is knit as 2 flat panels, you will need to knit the Fair Isle on the purl side as well as the knit side for these 29 rows.
