Edgar Allen Poe claimed to have written “The Raven” backwards. He said he started with the word “Nevermore” and worked his way to the beginning from there. I didn’t know that when I created these mittens, but they began for me in the same exact way. I asked myself what would happen if I made a mitten called Nevermore, and the rest is what you see here. Obviously there should be a bird. Clearly the palm motif would be a tiny feather. Hearts and keys filled in the empty spaces: Love for Lenore, and a stolen key to the chamber door…

Selbuvotter style mittens with traditional anatomical thumb gussets, picot hems and duplicate stitch hearts.
