New Elf in Town Balaclava
This is a sister pattern to Elf Pixie Ribbed Balaclava :
https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/elf-pixie-ribbed...
But they are NOT the same!
This pattern is a version of the very popular Elf Pixie Balaclava, but this one is knit flat only – yes, you read it right, there is no knitting in the round at all, it is knit ab-so-lu-te-ly flat! This makes this pattern a very beginner friendly one!
So, have you seen the Elf Pixie Balaclava pattern? Now you must be thinking that this pattern looks like that one, right? Let me tell you the difference then!
A part of the older pattern (Elf Pixie Balaclava) is knit in the round and then a part of it is knit flat. The new pattern is knit flat only.
The old pattern has some tricky parts like picking up and knitting stitches. The new pattern does not have any of this.
The old pattern is constructed in a slightly more complex way. The new pattern is very, very straightforward.
But what about the fit, you may ask? The old pattern is slightly more snug-fitting than the new one. Otherwise, the sizing is the same and both stay put once you put them on.
But how easy it is to put it on and take it off, you may ask? Easy! Super easy for both old and new ones!
Gauge: 19 sts in 4in/10cm in stockinette stitch. Row gauge is not important for this pattern.
You will need: worsted yarn (up to 250 grams for the largest size), knitting needles to obtain the gauge, two stitch markers, two locking stitch markers, darning needle.
