New Life, New Year
My friend Jo Ann is the local co-ordinator for Project Linus. She recently put out a request for baby blankets to donate to St Joe’s NICU for Christmas, and so I designed the New Life, New Year Baby Blanket so us crocheters could participate.
This blanket is a great introduction to mosaic crochet. If you can comfortably work single and double crochet stitches in rows, then you can make this blanket!
The pattern provides both written and charted instructions and a photo tutorial. Depending on your gauge, the finished blanket will measure approximately. 28” H x 27” W.
To complete this project you’ll need:
-
Approximately 821 yards of Aran weight yarn in at least two colours. If you want to use 4 like I did with my blanket, then you will need 194g (371 yds) in your Main Colour, 125g (239 yds) in a second colour, 82g (157 yds) in a third colour and 28g (54 yds) in the 4th colour
-
5.5 mm hook for the main fabric and a 6.0 mm plus 4.5 mm hook for the border
-
Locking stitch markers
-
Yarn needle
-
T-pins and a blocking surface
